Case study from a recent removals & Storage job.
The client made an initial enquiry about removals & storage from their property in Grimsby into our container warehouse. Some effects went to a temporary address while they await their new house build to be completed. An appointment was made, during a telephone conversation, For a pre-move survey. This was ascertain the removal requirements, these include the volume, packing and access to the property.
During the pre-move survey, our surveyor asked numerous questions to determine the exact service levels required. An inventory of all the household effects was made. The inventory included those effects coming into store and those being moved into the temporary address. The surveyor, upon his return to the office, used these details to process an accurate quotation. The quotation is tailored exactly to the client’s needs and is based on a combination of the packing required, vehicle size, loading time, travel time, number of storage containers needed. The client had asked for a basic removal quotation as they were anticipating completing their own packing, but decided to have a packing option added to the quotation. The quotation was promptly emailed which resulted in the client accepting the quotation including the packing.
The move was completed over two days, on day one our crew arrived at 8.15am, after a brief inspection room by room, they proceeded to spend the morning packing everything except the items needed overnight. In the afternoon, the crew loaded everything for storage into the four empty containers on the van, this was completed at approx. 4.00 pm. After checking with the client that everything for store was loaded the crew travelled back to our depot where the full containers were unloaded by forklift and stacked inside the warehouse. On day two the crew returned and loaded the remaining effects in the morning and delivered them to the rental property in the afternoon, the post move inspection was carried out to check all items were in the correct positions, the paperwork was completed and the crew return to the depot.
The containers are currently sitting in the warehouse, safe, dry and secure while we await the client’s instruction to deliver them to the new house, the containers will be loaded via forklift truck onto the vehicle and taken for delivery. At this stage, it is not decided whether we move the effects from storage into the new property first or move the client from the rented property into their new home first.
