Our client requested an international removal from Scunthorpe to Houston, Texas!
This client made an initial enquiry about an international removal from their property in Scunthorpe to their new home in the USA. During the telephone conversation, we made an appointment for a pre-move survey to ascertain the removal requirements, these include the volume, packing, marine insurance, timescales and access to the property.
During the pre-move survey. Our surveyor asked numerous questions to determine the exact service levels required. A very detailed inventory of effects to be moved was taken. All the clients questions were answered. The surveyor, upon his return to the office, used these details to process an accurate quotation. The international removal quotation is tailored exactly to the client’s needs. It is based on a combination of the packing, volume of effects, loading time, shipping, customs costs and unloading charges. A quotation was promptly emailed and after several conversations to answer the numerous questions which pop up. Our client accepted the quotation and booked a date.
The packing, export wrapping and container loading were completed over a three day period as per our agreed schedule. Day one consisted of packing all the small effects into bespoke removal cartons whilst making an inventory of the contents, once a box is full it is given a barcoded, numbered label and added to the international shipping inventory. Day two was all about export wrapping the furniture in bubble blanket, this is a heavy duty bubble wrap but with a felt lining to protect the furniture during transit. As each piece is wrapped it is given a bar coded, numbered label and added to the international shipping inventory. Day three started as day two finished with completing the export wrapping. The packing and wrapping were completed ahead of schedule at approx. 11.00am. The container was booked to arrive at 1:00pm and was systematically loaded with each item ticked off the inventory as it was loaded. Once complete the inventory was checked to make sure everything was loaded, paperwork was sorted and the container sealed. The container was then taken directly to the port for shipping.
The container arrived in Texas twenty three days later and once cleared through customs a delivery date was agreed. The delivery proceeded without a hitch and all the effects were unloaded and unpacked to the clients delight.
